via ferrata

Picture
Via ferrata means “iron road” in Italian. During the First World War the Italians and the Austrians troops fought ferocious wars in the mountains of the Dolomites. To access those peaks to site observations posts, they had to install permanent fixed lines to the rock faces, using ropes and ladders. Today these routes have been restored with more safe equipment.  Very popular in Europe, the via ferratas are routes that are very well protected with steel cables running along the route and periodically fixed to the rock. These routes also have iron rungs, bolts, carved steps, ladders, etc. to make the climb easier. They offer the relatively inexperienced a means of access to difficult terrain without the need of climbing knowledge. This is a perfect activity for families and groups of friends. Your safety is guaranteed under the supervision of your guide and using the right equipment. We offer you the via ferrata in Telluride, Colorado.
